Selling Photos Online

I guess I should start by saying that my name is Jessica Brindle and about 7 months ago I registered with a company that was allegedly going to teach anyone who joined "the secrets" of making money by selling photos online. Now, I receive around $1.500 - $2.000 every month straight into my PayPal account.

The company I registered with is DigiCam, but I guess there might be a few other programs like this one out there. Choosing a good company is just a matter of how lucky you are and how much research you do before joining such a program. From my economic point of view, I can say it was the smartest $50 I ever spent. (I have T-shirts that cost more than that :) )

What is this all about?

The concept this kind of programs are based on is quite simple to understand. All you need to have is a digital camera (or a cell phone with a camera, which was my case when I first started) and an interest in taking photos. You would be amazed how many people, websites or magazines are willing to buy photos taken by regular people, just to avoid spending hundreds or thousands of dollars to professional photographers.

After the fore-mentioned requirements are met, I advise you get out there, do some research and pick a program to guide you through your new path (how poetic...). When I first started, I was unwilling to invest in any program, not knowing if this whole selling-photos-online concept is scam or not, but what I actually did was just wasting a couple of months.

The fact is that I registered with the first website Google recommended, uploaded a few dozen photos, sold quite a few for a commission, but never got to reach the threshold ($50, if I recall correctly) and get paid.

It was not disappointing for me, as I had and still have a regular job, but the fact that others were making a living out of this made me curious. I finally decided to pay the registration fee for one of these programs (ask for a refund if I didn't recover my investment in a month) and read through all the material I was provided.

I remember I first signed up for a 6 months membership (it was cheaper :D ), but just about a month ago I opted to spend a few more bucks (a little less than $50) and get a lifetime membership.

The first month was a slow one, as I only had about 30 - 35 photos to sell, but at least I made a little more than $100 and was in profit. I am now carrying my camera wherever I go, make a couple of dozens of photos a day (in my spare time) and simply upload them in the evening.

My best month so far was a little over $2000 in profits ($2087, to be more specific) and my next goal is $3000/month. Wish me luck :)
